An Egg-scellent Experience: Food Photography with Happy Egg

I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a delightful journey into the world of egg photography, collaborating with Modo Studios and the talented food stylist, Suzy Eaton. Our mission? A Creative Collaboration

Working with the production team at Modo Studios and Suzy Eaton was an absolute joy. The synergy between the team members brought a unique blend of creativity, expertise, and passion to the project. Modo Studios coordinated the location, props, and video production, while Suzy Eaton's artistic touch as a food stylist elevated the visuals to a whole new level. It truly made my job so easy to come in and snap shots of the art they were creating!

The Challenge of Capturing Eggs

Eggs, with their simple yet intricate beauty, posed an exciting challenge for our food photography venture. How do you capture the essence of something so common yet so essential in our culinary adventures? It was a question that fueled our creativity and sparked an exploration into the art of photographing eggs. My favorite part was how versatile this simple ingredient is, and the variety of dishes we were able to capture: from ramen, to carbonara, shakshuka, and avocado toast! Suzy even threw together a stunning breakfast board and a mouthwatering burger.

We also aimed not just to showcase the product but to tell a visual story that resonates with the brand's values and the joy of indulging in high-quality, ethically sourced eggs. Lifestyle images were a huge part of this project, and I loved getting to work with talented child and

adult models to capture scenes of families enjoying breakfast and cooking together.

Behind the Scenes

Of course, an egg shoot involved many "casualties," as several eggs met an unfortunate end dropped on the floor or cracked under too much pressure. (it isn't easy to be a perfectly styled egg!) We also had to get creative with our working space, since video was usually rolling in the kitchen. At one point we set up a scene on top of a dryer in the laundry room! I brought my Godox strobes and an Aputure 600d to help light the scenes in whichever location was available. It was nice to have control of the lighting and be able to work unobtrusively alongside the video team.

The Joy of Exploration

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this project was the freedom to explore different techniques and styles of photography. Eggs, with their unique shapes and brightly colored yolks, offered a canvas for creativity. Whether it was experimenting with macro textures of shells and yolks, working with the models to create joyful egg interactions, or documenting Suzy's brilliant recipes, each shot was exciting and really fun! I feel like I grew as a photographer and I couldn't have had such amazing results without an egg-scellent team!

The Final Frame

As the project reached its conclusion, I found myself super pleased with the results. The images captured not just the visual beauty of Happy Egg but also the passion and dedication poured into the art of food photography. Each frame told a story, and collectively, they painted a vivid picture of the brand's commitment to quality and ethical sourcing.

In conclusion, the food photography project for Happy Egg was a delightful journey filled with creativity, collaboration, and the joy of exploring the nuances of capturing culinary delights through the lens. I'm excited to share these images with the world, hoping they convey the same pleasure and appreciation for the art of food as I experienced in creating them.
